People new to the game do not have a reasonable chance at that stuff at all without some of the new means.

I see people talking talking a lot about "the economy" through all this..... I have to say at this time that "the economy" is my least favorite part of the whole game, and really is the root of people's anger on this thread. "The economy" as I see it right now are a bunch of people that have all the stuff and have nothing better to do but to make a game out of trading it, bragging about how low they can buy stuff and how high they can sell it for....these same people own newbs in the market, because it is so hard to get anything of real value early in the game, that the people sellin their stuff in Kamadan are holding all the cards when you go to negotiate a trade with them. Long story short, most of the gripe in this thread is stemmed from either the idea that people desperate to get something really nice missed out again, and on the other hand people who have all the other stuff are pissed because a new shiny toy that everybody else wants but they dont have actually diminishes the "value" of thier stuff.

The game isn't ruining the economy, the economy is ruining the game.
Sorry, but those weapon skins were actually within reach of anyone that would put the effort into getting one. Those items could be attained by playing PVP or farming to purchase one. They did not have to made so common that my heroes use them.

The ultra rare minis are out of reach of almost EVERYONE in the game. They come with a set number which then makes them priceless. The PvP reward ones they could at least defend with .. the top PvP people worked for them. The polar bear is another story.

Please feel free to explain to me how a "new" person will generate stacks of armbraces to be able to purchase said minis (without duping and Ebay).

This is not about the economy but a reasonable chance at a desireable item.

Oh believe me, I think there are a lot of ppl taking this way too serious. I personally think it's too bad I didn't manage to get one since I loooooooooooooove polar bears, and also think it would have been nice if there had been more, but you don't see me ranting like Anet fail and so on. And I think when doing so to say they are "overreacting" would be the understatement of the year (IMHO, no pun intended. So don't go flaming me now.).

All I know is that this mini-pet is a headache and never should have been added to the game. As mokone said get over it. And let's hope they never add another minipet or ultrarare drop again.

Should Anet then put Ectos and Rubies and Sapphires and Obsidian Shards in the chest as well? So that people who haven't played for 2 years be able to 'easily' obtain stuff that everyone else has grinded their buns off for? Any and all farming nerfs happened before I obtained my little in game fancies. I didn't even know how to farm when it was all being nerfed away. Would I expect the game to change for me since I don't know how to play it? No, rather I learn how to play it and obtain it instead.

I didn't mean for this to turn into an economy chat or lack their of. I just don't understand why they are making mini's incredibly valuable and why they are making what used to be incredibly valueable worthless. I recently obtained something that was worth a lot of cash out of HoH. I sold it. I heard that before the Zaishen chest I would have gotten 4x more than what I sold it for. As is I had to endure being laughed at for asking the going price for it. Something isn't right with that.

I don't think things should be handed to everyone but when we're talking about a festival item here..... that you didnt' have to win a snowball fight tournament for or anything like that.... c'mon?

Wow this Wintersday was just a big disaster imo...

There were extreme lag fests on the finale and afterwards, it was announced that you could get the Wintersday hats by talking to the festival hat maker. On top of that, Wintersday just ended without warning which just happened to be the day that we were first informed of the mini polar bears.

The whole idea for the Mini Polar Bears was absolute trash in the first place and it was horribly executed. Gaile denyed that the minis even existed at first, there was no information at all acknowledging the mini polar bears(you had to search through DAT files to find it...) People ran through the quest hundreds of times and never got one thanks to astronomically low drop rates and mis-information.

Anet should've considered at least using the method somewhat similar to the Canthan New Years where mini pigs could be found through the fortunes (Replace fortunes with the quest) albeit very rare and possibly suprise people at the finale with these minis, but that would ruin their price completely like the mini pigs.

What should have been implemented was a quest-esque scavenger hunt similar to the Mini Black Moa and also be cross campaign. There could be a book (Like Zho's Journal) that could give you hints on where to go and it could drop out of the Wintersday Chest.

This way, the pets would be kept rare, being only available during Wintersday and on a tough scavengerhunt.

I agree with that 150%. Why waste my cash on something so displeasing to my eyes? Still waiting for a mini zoo keeper or something like the hat trader... Being a collector of mini's and consumeables and weapons is forcing me to make choices all the time. bah.

My understanding on farming these days is you are not going to get much of anything cool unless in HM. I am 4/5 of the way thru nightfall, and seriously even though I am near to saving the world I feel like sometimes I should trade in my rangers bow for a parks and rec department trash picker...because thats what kind of treasure is out there "easily for new ppl to get".

New people will never catch up to the wealth of the people who have been around since before the farm nerfs, because the rungs have been torn from the ladder....but despite being a newb and not having sstacks of ectos, I did have access to the polar bear mish, and the mish was easy so if I was just plain luckier, i would have got one....and it would have been such an outrageously uber drop compared to all the other stuff I've gotten I probably would have had a freakin heart attack. I believe the Polar mini, the Z-chests and BMP are equalizers for the economy....finally giving newbs like me a shot at least at gettin something good enough to trade.

personally, i would never buy one of the expensive minis, i don't care much about owning them as about the fun of getting/working for them.
owning a pet that could only be earned during wintersday would have been cool. spending my christmas holiday trying to get one would have been fun (like the IDS 2005), even if i hadn't got one.
but to learn about it hours before the npcs disappeared, after the official end of the event, just sucked.

You haven't even beaten a chapter and you are complaining about wealth distribution?

If anything new people have it EASY compared to those of us that started at launch. I remember a max damage weapon being something to go oooooo over. Anet introduced GREENS as the equalizer for new people .. they didn't have to kill desireable weapon skins value to do it. Loot scaling and farm code suck for everyone not just new people. This is hardly the thread for that.

I am sorry if you feel I am being unreasonable because I do not agee with the introduction of ANOTHER mini that is out of reach of almost every gw player.

Changed my mind. I saw one today and it is too small. Dont put it in the Christmas Chest of the Past thing with rare drop rate like ghost. Dont want it anymore.

Anet doesnt make anything less or more "valuable" people in kamadan and lions arch determine that. Mini's go for so much only because people obsess about them so much....and if theres any reason that they hold more value than weapons it's simply because they are more rare and hard to get than weapons. The mini pig that they let almost everybody have is the exception to this rule, and almost nobody even cares about those....funny how that works huh?

A few weeks ago during the EOTN promo, I got lucky and found a rec 9 saurian scythe with reasonable but not great mods (perfect ones yes, but not sundering and HP or enchant). I thought oh wow, here we go the game finally gave me something I can trade for some serious dough.....went to price check it and got told "oh yeah, thats a common one u can get 30-40K with perfect stuff". COMMON? I see storm bows in trade chat every time i go to a big city, and they seem to hold thier value regardless of how common they are at this stage in the game...I decided I smelled a rat, if I sold that scythe for that price I would never get it back for that price later, so i said to hell with selling it, i stated a Derv instead...a character that will never have to buy any other weapon because he already has the best one minus a mod or 2 IMO. Last weekend I went back to do quests where the saurian dropped, and after several quests barely had enough trash-errm, I mean treasure to even bother going to the merchant with.....nerfed farm. (bet that saurian scythe ends up being not-so-common here in a few months)

A-net does not determine values of items, but they do make adjustments....adjustments for the state of the greater good from what i can tell.

Oh you bet I'l gripe about wealth distribution...I've never played a game where the treasure was so tight, but on the other hand the nicest stuff sells for comparitive millions. And I am correct, the reason people are mad about the Polar Mini is about the economy. Maybe the next mini's they make, they should make like the BMP rewards that you cant sell.....see how everybody feels about that.

Basicly I am gathering that you are in the category of people I mentioned before, the ones that are angry about the Bear because you dont have it, and it's existence makes your shiny stuff a little less shiny now. You wouldnt even be here griping if you were one of the lucky that got the Bear.

Yeah but its not like they planned it that way. The only real part that bothers me is that they denied its existence till the last day and that stopped people from playing the game during the event (well sorta but you get what i mean, they werent in there for that reason). I think super rare things are fine and infact I support them. I just wish they had let us know it existed and such. But oh wells its not like its real money or anything and, although some did mention a reindeer and how awesome that would be. I agree with that and would farm for all day and night for one of those lol.
